We are very excited to have Holly Joshi deliver the keynote address at Freedom in Action 2018!
Holly Joshi is the Co-Director at MISSSEY, a youth-serving non-profit dedicated to providing direct services and advocacy for survivors of commercial sexual exploitation. Holly has 15 years of committed public service experience and over a decade of leadership and advocacy work in the movement to end the commercial sexual exploitation of children. She led the Oakland Police Department’s Child Exploitation Unit and co-created the first Oakland Police Department/ FBI anti-trafficking task force. Holly has worked to improve system responses to survivors since 2008, has served on Attorney General Kamala Harris’s Task Force on Human Trafficking, and has trained law enforcement and service providers across the country on human trafficking response as a member of the training team at National Criminal Justice Training Center.
Holly has strong roots in our local community and a sincere passion for human rights and social justice. She has been a guest speaker at the University of California at Berkeley, Stanford University, Golden Gate School of Law, and California State East Bay. Her work has been featured on MSNBC, Anderson Cooper, and in Essence Magazine. Holly holds a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice and a Master’s Degree in Leadership for Social Justice, and she is currently a doctorate student in Educational Leadership at St. Mary’s of California.
